Floe

Floe, in the context of the industrial roofing contracting industry, refers to a large sheet of floating ice formed on the surface of a body of water. Floes can be over 2 km in size, often referred to as large multi-year floes. In the roofing industry, the concept of a “floe” can be metaphorically applied to represent the solid, protective layer that a well-constructed roof provides, much like a floe provides a solid surface over the water.
